Color My World

Ooh la la…COLOR is just one of those things that can change a mood, an attitude, or your whole day! Have you ever realized this??  I’m sure you have! 🙂  I love bright pretty colors, but I also love pastel shades for some things…and, yep, I can even be a neutral chick, too…warm khakis, whites, and soft shades that just melt your heart and make you feel all warm ‘n cozy inside.  But, for today, I’m talking about colors that grab your attention…put a spring in your step and a SMILE on your face! Back at the first of the year I started to really embrace the side of me that loves to sketch and draw, and it is leading me on a path that I absolutely love…finally…because I am making time for it.   I am always sketching out designs and ideas, but I mean just really focusing on drawing from my heart.  It feels like I am finally sharing a part of me that has been wanting to come out to play for a long time! HaHa!  Ever since I was a little girl I have loved drawing…trying to draw…things that I loved.  Maybe it was a house, horses, my animals I had growing up.  There was nothing that made me happier than to have a brand new box of Crayola crayons!  That little budding artist hung around, and now, she is busy once again!  I’m excited to learn more and teach myself more…it’s an ARTFUL journey!

And, there is nothing more inspiring than beautiful COLORS.  I love a beautiful blue {especially an aqua…that’s my fave!}, and when I am working in my studio on a new design or sketch I often think about some of my favorite pictures I have snapped.  This one definitely makes the cut.  What a picture for a little artistic inspiration!  The tree trunk of this palm is perfect if you are looking for texture or a continuous pattern design.  The sky is a perfect shade that could be incorporated as a beautiful background for one of my art pieces.  And, the palm itself…well, need I say more?!!

This is another favorite picture I took one day before we moved to the beach; we were actually here on vacation.  And, although I am not a big ice cream eater {I know, a little crazy…not to worry, I do love homemade peach ice cream!!}, I seem to always hear the ice cream truck no matter how far away it is! Talk about color!  Someone had some artsy skills for sure when they decorated this cute truck.  And, I love that they added an American flag!  I look at this, and it just makes my heart skip a beat as I want to go grab some paint and get creative!

This beauty was smiling at me one day when I was outside with Tucker so I went back in to grab my camera.  I loved how the sun was hitting the trees at that moment.  This is the perfect vibrant red for a heart design, a cute and sassy whimsical redhead girl that is ready to take on the world, or a bold background.  See, COLOR can just really make the imagination soar!

As you can see, I find inspiration for color and designs all around.  It may be from a broken shell I find from a walk on the beach or even a warm brown acorn that those crazy squirrels left behind.  What are your favorite colors and where do you find your inspiration?  I’d love to know! 🙂

Today, I’m linking up one of my pieces of artwork over at “Word Art Wednesday”.  Cassandra is the beautiful soul behind this blog, and I love that it focuses on taking scripture or encouraging words and creating art around it.  Be sure to visit her main blog, as well…“This Art that Heals”.  It’s a beautiful blog filled with tons of inspiration, great photos, and fun videos.  I’m sharing my “Prayerful Heartwings” art for Word Art Wednesday.  🙂

{This design is available as a print for framing, note cards, or a design for a belt buckle or pendant {or, ornament} in my Etsy shoppe.}
